We are the tragic ones.

We are the ones who went home,
Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
You get the picture.
We went home and waited.

The gold key that Gran gave me,
To let myself in when she was gone,
Alone in a big house.
Just me and the key.

We are the patient ones.

Hoping that someone will come back,
Maybe the door will finally open,
Step into my heart.
I want someone here with me.

Mother, father, when will you be home?
Are you busy again tonight?
We aren't a family.
We haven't been one for a while.

We are the broken ones.

Hearts covered in cobwebs,
Time moves slowly alone,
Dust off the love.
Shine off the hurt.

Us three aren't a family anymore,
We are strangers in a house,
No connections to each other.
Strangers sharing a shelter.
Sometime back when I was young,
Sometime when I was younger,
Maybe 7 or 11,
Someone told me something special.

We are the tragic ones.

Why are we tragic?

EDIT: Uhhhhh...
